What We Believe

Imagine you could run a company on autopilot; just people creating value by doing what they love. We’re trying to make that vision a reality.

  1. Trust in people, be democratic. “People first, products and profit will follow!”1. We assume the people closest to the problem know the problem best and make the best decisions on it.
  2. Be transparent, share information. Information is required for good decision making. The more information you share, the more other people will share. If you deprive people of information you deprive them of the opportunity to make things better.
  3. Take responsibility, not a role. We don’t believe in job titles, we believe people should take initiative for adding value wherever - and whenever - they can.
  4. Be determined and passionate. Talent is overrated compared to determination. When you are trying to change the world, you’ll run into a lot of obstacles. We aren’t the type of people that get demoralised easily.
  5. Start with why. Have a very clear vision and sense of your ultimate objective, and articulate that vision to others. “People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it”2
  6. Focus on solving customers’ problems. We don’t believe in adding the most features, worrying about competitors, or making the largest profits. We focus on two things; our customers and our team.
  7. You have to deliver both short and long. There’s no point dreaming of the future if you’re going to starve tomorrow. The best businesses deliver on short range commitments while developing a long range vision.
  8. Expertise is overvalued. In a rapidly changing environment, generalists trump experts. We hire t-shaped people; those who are both generalists (highly skilled at a broad set of valuable things) and also experts (among the best in their field within a narrow discipline).
  9. Always be learning. We encourage people to work outside their core area. We believe that high-performance people are self-improving, and provide them the opportunity to broaden their skill sets outside of the narrow constraints that careers have at other companies.
  10. Create a safe, collaborative, environment. When people are surrounded by others who have their best interests in mind, they will feel safe and cooperate effectively.
