Knowing you’re being listened to is an essential part of any conversation. It’s no wonder then, that sharing feedback anonymously – as is the norm with employee engagement surveys – often doesn’t feel like a dialogue that will lead to action. 

Taking the time to raise an issue you care about and not knowing if anyone has read your words can be very disheartening. Yet for those gathering the feedback, employee anonymity leaves them with little choice.

As employees provide anonymous feedback through pulse surveys, their comments appear in real-time on the dashboard. As you can see in the screenshot below, managers can then acknowledge specific feedback. Email notifications let employees know their feedback has been read, and by whom.

When employees raise problems that need resolving quickly, letting them know they’ve been heard will show their concerns are being taken onboard – giving managers more time to act. Acknowledging great ideas will ensure that employees keep sharing them.

There are times, however, when you need clarity and further detail to understand a comment and learn what can be done to improve. For this, the Conversations feature enables you to have a dialogue with the person who provided the feedback – without the employee losing their anonymity. 

In the screenshot above, you can see how a manager is able to reply to a comment. The employee will receive an email with the response and can provide more detail by simply replying to that email. They will retain their anonymity, but the manager will have a better idea of how to solve the issue. Managers can also leave notes for other managers – rather than replying to the employees – to discuss how a comment should be address.

Although in the long-term actions speak louder than words, quick acknowledgement of feedback will go a long way to build trust in your process. You can now make your engagement surveys even more engaging.
