Great leaders understand the importance of listening to feedback from their team and taking appropriate action. But how do you know which pieces of feedback are the most valuable when there are hundreds of comments to read? There’s only so much time in the day, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed or sidetracked by conflicting priorities. While every employee comment has value, not everything requires immediate action.
We’ve seen a rise in the number of comments that employees share with their managers, especially as they get more comfortable using Peakon. According to our partners, this feedback is becoming more constructive and often solution-oriented. This is a goldmine of insight for any organisation, but it can be difficult for managers to know how to prioritise their efforts.
“Employees trust the Peakon survey process and use the ability to share thoughts and ideas with the leaders through comments. Access to this incredibly useful content allows for managers to help close the feedback loop within their teams through communication and action. We are working hard to optimise the manager experience by ensuring that they can view the most actionable insights within comments first.”

During these observations, we’ve also identified patterns in the way employees provide feedback, which indicates what makes a comment more relevant and urgent.
To address this issue, Peakon has introduced the first intelligently-ranked employee comments feed. Instead of reading through hundreds of individual comments, Peakon surfaces the most actionable ones. This means more time to focus on solutions, and less time spent trying to spot patterns and uncover insights hidden in your comment feed.
Jakob Nielsen, a data scientist at Peakon, explains how the features powered by the text analytics in Peakon provide actionable insights both to the leadership but also to the team leaders that need to take action and close the feedback loop.
We’ll leave you with a few tips on how to address the most impactful feedback from your team:
Focus on comments that relate to your priority drivers, especially as those will have the biggest impact on your team’s overall engagement.
Start from your highlighted comments, which are ranked in order of priority.
Use the contextual acknowledgements feature, which allows you to respond to each comment in less time and work through more feedback.
Reach out for support when you don’t know how to respond to a comment. If a comment needs to be actioned by someone else or a more senior member of your team, tag them and move on. Tagging the right person means you can be more efficient with your time and focus on only the most relevant feedback.
