2016 was an exceptional year for Peakon. It started with a €4M funding round, and saw us build-out world class teams in London, Copenhagen and the US. We knew that it would take a lot to top a period in which we established partnerships with the likes of Trinity Mirror, Secret Escapes and Egmont, but 2017 looks set to do just that. After keeping our lips sealed for the last few weeks, we are now delighted to announce the completion of our latest round of funding of €6.1M, led by EQT Ventures.
With an exciting year and global domination on the horizon, we wanted to share with you the Peakon story thus far, and our hopes for the future…
It started as a simple idea.
Founded in 2014 by an all-star team of “people people”, Kasper Hulthin, Christian Holm, Phil Chambers and Dan Rogers had a combined vision – to revolutionise the workplace. They brought with them a fixie bike (Dan), a Ferrari (Kasper), and a wealth of experience from some of Europe’s biggest start-ups; Podio, Songkick, Gumtree & Qype.
They understood that for years, HR had not had the same level of investment and technology on offer as other business functions. A CHRO didn’t have the tools to demonstrate the ROI of great people initiatives, and employees were restricted to voicing their concerns in the archaic annual survey.
Something needed to change, and so Peakon was born. By creating an analytics platform that allowed continuous feedback, it gave companies the ability to make better, data-driven, people decisions.
The highlight reel
2016 began with a bang, with €4M investment from Idinvest Partners, Sunstone Capital and angel investor Tommy Ahlers. The tripling of our headcount meant new offices in London and Raleigh, North Carolina. We had to upgrade our London office six months later, as our marketing and sales team rapidly scaled.
Our leadership team grew too. Neil, our Chief Revenue Officer and Patrick, our VP of Customer Success brought with them years of sales and HR experience respectively from companies such as Starbucks, Huddle and Virgin America.
Our hard work was recognised at HR Tech Paris in October 2016, where we were a finalist in the Disrupt HR competition. The trophy now sits proudly on our shelf in London.
We also had some fun along the way. With four company summits, and a Mike Skinner DJ set for 1400 people at Peakon HQ under our belt, we made sure we celebrated our successes together. We also celebrated two new additions to the Peakon family: babies Olivia and Louis.
To infinity and beyond…
We have been overwhelmed by the positive response from our customers, and have found ourselves highly in demand, as the number of companies keen to invest in employee engagement has grown.
With the backing of EQT, we’re excited to accelerate our growth plans further, particularly in building our our machine learning, data science and engineering teams to provide our customers with the best data-driven insights possible.
The EQT Ventures team brings some fantastic operational experience in international scaling, marketing and product and it’s great to have them on board!
